The Ford Motor Company is selling the 82-year-old dam and hydroelectric plant on the Mississippi river that powers its St. Paul assembly factory.

Ford’s Ranger truck plant is scheduled to shut down in 2008, prompting the company to start taking bids this month from utility companies, government agencies and investment firms for the 11m high dam and power plant.

The 17MW facility cost US$1.3M when it was constructed in 1924.
