Additional funding of $168M is being sought to complete works on the 400MW Bui Dam in Ghana by 2013, the Ghanaian Chronicle has reported.

According to the publication, the country’s government is seeking the additional funds from the EXIM Bank of China, who have previously provided a loan for the scheme. The Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr Inusah Fuseini, was quoted as stating that the government was already in talks with China for the funding, with the Bank expressing an interesting in further supporting the project.

The Bui project is being implemented by Sinohydro Corporation under an EPC contract signed in April 2007. It is currently 66% complete.
