Hungarian energy firm MOL Nyrt has opened its first filling station in Austria, in the town of Leoben, on April 1, 2008.

The filling station was established with the co-operation of Austrian fuel dealer Roth-Heizole. MOL holds a 74.99% stake in Roth-Heizole, which owns 34 filling stations, primarily in southeastern Austria.

MOL’s plans reportedly call for a retail expansion in Austria and the strengthening of its position in the fuel retail market, where the Hungarian firm sees good potential for development.

MOL reportedly holds more than 30% in the oil and gas products wholesale market in eastern Austria, through its fully owned subsidiary MOL Austria Handels.
