The shipments were loaded from its $550m Mina Invierno coal project in southern region of the country.
The company anticipates the production capacity of the mine to reach 2.5 million tonnes for its first year. However, it is likely to raise its capacity to 6 million tons per year over a 12-year mine life citing 73 million tons of reserves, reported mining.com.
Meanwhile, industry experts claim that Mina Invierno will lower the country’s dependence on overseas markets by meeting 30% of the coal supply required for the local needs.
