Minaurum Gold has started a first phase 3,000m drill program at its 17,000 hectare Aurena Gold Skarn project in Oaxaca State, Mexico.

Ten to fifteen holes will be drilled initially on the Aurena Target where Minaurum recently outlined coincident high grade gold-in-soil and rock chip anomalies covering an area 1,000m east-west by 100m to 400m north-south.

The company said that about 30% of the rock chip samples examined in the area had more than one gram per tonne (g/t) Au, and around 30% of the soil samples examined had more than 0.5 g/t Au.

The highest gold value in the rock chip samples was 6.46 g/t, and the highest gold value in soils was 5.77 g/t Au.

The results of the recently completed airborne magnetics and VTEM geophysical survey of the Aurena property, done to enhance targeting in the immediate area and facilitate the recognition of other mineralized centers in the property, are at present being analyzed, the company said.

The company has also planned several drill holes elsewhere within ESE-WNW belt of sulfide-bearing and skarn-altered sedimentary and intrusive rocks that host the Aurena Target, and three to four holes for the Guelaguichi target area in the northeastern part of the project.
