Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has received an order for a 200 MW LNG-fired combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant from Alinta Energy of Australia.

The new plant, to be built at the existing Tamar Valley station site in Tasmania, will consist of a M701DA gas turbine, steam turbine, generator, heat recovery steam generator and balance of plant.

MHI will manufacture a gas turbine and a steam turbine at its Takasago Machinery Works. Mitsubishi Electric Corp will supply the generator while civil engineering and installation will be consigned separately by Alinta Energy. The plant is scheduled to go on-stream in the second quarter of 2009.
