The two RRVHs will replace original components in order to enable continued operation and enhance plant efficiency.

MHI has received multiple orders for major replacement components for SONGS Units 2 and 3, and the latest shipment of RRVHs follows two earlier shipments of replacement steam generators (RSG).

SONGS is located in northern San Diego County, approximately 100km southeast of Los Angeles.

Units 2 and 3 are 1,100MWe (megawatts of electricity) pressurized water reactors (PWR) that went into operation in 1983 and 1984, respectively.

The RRVHs are crucial components of PWR nuclear power plants (NPP). They are made of low-alloy steel, each measuring approximately 5m in diameter and weighing 75 metric tons (82.67 short tons).
