Metso, a supplier of sustainable technology and services has signed a contract to acquire Holzmag technology for an undisclosed sum.

The transaction is expected to strengthen Metso’s services portfolio as a solution provider the mechanical treatment of solid waste.

The acquisition will enable Metso to provide ne shredding equipment for a wide range of solid waste types such as municipal and industrial solid waste, biomass, plastics, textiles, glass, aluminum & non-ferrous metals, wood.

The company current provides equipment for pre-shredding of all kinds of solid waste with its M&J shredders.

Fine shredding technology follows the pre-shredding and sorting of waste into homogenous waste streams.

The acquisition will cover equipment within briquetting and pelletizing adding to Metso’s technology offering for producing high energy value bio products.

Metso can also expand into new areas including recycling of industrial refuse/waste and preparation of refuse derived fuel for combustion or gasification.

Metso president, Recyling business line Dr. René Gissinger said the new technologies will complement the company’s current offering for recycling customers and power generation customers.
