The sanction will be imposed for failure on the part of Dan Water Society to report on time the discharge of water or wastewater into the sea (ILS600,000)and for failing to reduce the quantity of sludge discharged to sea by 15% by means of N-Viro treatment beginning in July 2010 (ILS600,000).

Financial sanctions imposed for offenses under the Hazardous Substances Law may range between ILS50,000 to ILS800,000 and between ILS 300,000 to ILS2.4m for offenses under the Prevention of Sea Water Pollution from Land-Based Sources.

However, the MEP approved regulations allow the Deputy Director General for Enforcement to reduce the sanction under special circumstances to increase deterrence and bring about better regulation in certain areas.
