Mecasolar, a Spanish company engaged in the design and manufacture of solar trackers and fixed structures, has opened a new solar tracker manufacturing facility in the Canadian city of Wallaceburg.

In Mecasolar’s new Canadian centre, the company will manufacture both 2-axis solar trackers and the latest generation of 15kW, 1-axis trackers.

The facility is expected to reach a production capacity of 8,000 solar trackers annually.

From Wallaceburg, the company will supply customers both in Ontario and the states of the northeast of the US such as Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Illinois, among others, given their proximity to the US border.

The company anticipates that solar installations will reach up to 400MW in 2011, of which it aims to hold 10% of the ground facilities.
