A 74:26 joint venture between Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corporation, Maithon Power has earlier commissioned the first Unit of 525 MW (Unit 1) in September 2011.
Tata Power managing director Anil Sardana said, We are thankful to the Government of Jharkhand and other stakeholders for their support throughout the project," Sardana added.
Maithon Power CEO Bhaskar Sarkar said, "The commissioning of Maithon 525 MW Unit 2 is a significant milestone."
The project located on 1,200 acre location is expected to supply power DVC and to northern states of India, pursuant to the power purchase agreements with Power Grid Corporation of India.
