The company will drill the well 7220/6-2 from the Island Innovator drilling facility. It will be the fifth exploration well in production license 609.
Secured by the company in the 21st licensing round in 2011, the production license consists of the blocks/part of blocks 7220/6, 7220/9, 7220/11, 7220/12 and 7221/4.
With a 40% ownership interest, Lundin Norway is the operator of the production license 609, with Idemitsu Petroleum Norge and RWE Dea Norge, each holding 30% stake.
This permit is dependent upon the operator having secured all other permits and consents required by other authorities before the commencement of drilling process, Lundin said.
