The tender, which will take place in Gaborone for 11 days from 6 July to 16, will be lead by the sale of the 342 carat diamond, recovered from the Karowe mine in Botswana during April.

About 16 diamonds are expected to be sold on tender including up to six diamonds larger than 100 carats.

Lucara Diamond’s two assets are the Karowe mine in Botswana and the Mothae project in Lesotho.

The company owns 100% stake Karowe mine, which is in production. The 75% owned Mothae project has finished its trial mining program.

The Mothae facility was put on care and maintenance while the company investigates additional development options.

Lucara said both Mothae and Karowe are large scale assets with tonnage and throughput upside and output has included large, Type IIA stones.
