Laurentian Bank of Canada will be part of a $130m financial consortium involved in the refinancing of Gosfield wind farm project in southern Ontario.

The wind power facility, located on the banks of Lake Erie, is part of the renewable energy asset portfolio of Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners.

This wind farm employs 22 units of 2.3MW turbines and generates around 50.6MW of clean power.

The electricity generated at the plant is being purchased by the Ontario Power Authority, under a 20-year electricity purchase agreement.

Commenting on the initiative, Laurentian Bank Energy and Infrastructures senior manager Philippe Bergeron said that wind power is a sector that has attracted their interest.

With a total installed capacity of around 2000MW, the province of Ontario is the largest producer of wind-generated energy.
