Landis+Gyr, a provider of energy management solutions, has secured a contract from the State Grid Corporation of China to supply over 10,000 electricity meters for upcoming deployment in six Chinese provinces.

The company, which operates R&D and manufacturing facilities in China, will deliver the polyphase commercial and industrial smart meters.

Smart meters provide two-way communication designed to save energy, cut costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Landis+Gyr claims that it is helping design the smart grid of the future by connecting utilities and consumers around the world.

Landis+Gyr China CEO Carrie Lin said that with the technology competence and experience in providing high quality meters, the company is well positioned to support the smart grid roll out in China.
