The acquisition includes ten licenses, contiguous with its existing Panorama Anthracite project, covering 13,787 hectares, which will provide Kuro with a footprint of 33,012 hectares in the Panorama Coalfield.

Atrum Coal executive director Russell Moran said: "Kuro has increased its exploration foot-print in the Panorama area.

"We are planning a maiden exploration program which can commence once regulatory approvals are received."

As part of preparations for the 2014 exploration program, the company plans to convert the applications to granted coal licenses.

Atrum said it is finalizing deals with Kuro over marketing and logistics prior to the planned initial public offering.
