The office will provide Kurion with easy access to engineering and design companies in Orange and Los Angeles Counties to help develop new technologies to reduce nuclear waste management life-cycle costs, accelerate project performance, and facilitate clean nuclear power.
Kurion has a nuclear waste management R&D Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, an added benefit for remaining with the close proximity of Oak Ridge Reservation, a DOE Office of Environmental Management funded waste clean-up site.
Kurion vice president of engineering Dr Richard Keenan said that Orange County and Los Angeles County represent the largest concentrations of small and medium sized engineering and design companies and talent and manufacturing companies, in the country.
"The area boasts multiple sources for all relevant areas of expertise to support a high-end waste management company like Kurion," Keenan said.
