Under this contract, Kruger will supply Biofilm Chip M IFAS media with 1,200 cubic meter of specific surface area to expand the Hooksett facility, which uses biological nitrogen removal technology to treat wastewater.

The expansion of the facility is expected to increase the plant’s capacity from 1.1MGD to 2.2MGD without the construction of additional aeration tanks.

The upgrade work includes the installation of IFAS aeration for removal of nitrogen and construction of anaerobic zones for biological phosphorus removal, with target effluent concentrations of 15 mg/l BOD, 15 mg/l TSS and 1.0 mg/l of ammonia.

In addition to the Biofilm Chip M media, Kruger is also supplying the medium bubble aeration grids for the IFAS zones, and media retention sieves for the plant expansion and upgrade, which is being funded partially by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
