Independent upstream oil and gas company KrisEnergy has commenced drilling at the Bangora-6 development well in the Block 9 production sharing contract, onshore Bangladesh.

The Bapex Bijoy 10 rig is being used to drill the Bangora-6 development well from the Golpanagar site in the northern section of Block 9, which is located approximately 50 km east of Dhaka.

The company plans to drill the well to a total measured depth of 3,786m.

In 2015, gross production from the Bangora field averaged 106 million cubic feet of gas per day and 291 barrels of condensate per day from four development wells.

While KrisEnergy operates the Block 9 with 30% stake, other partners include Niko Exploration with a 60% interest and Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company with 10%.

The 1,770km2 Block 9 comprises the Bangora gas producing facility and the Lalmai discovery.

During 2012, Bangora field’s gross production averaged around 100 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) and 300 barrels of condensate per day.

In addition to Bangora gas field in Block 9, KrisEnergy has producing assets including B8/32, B9A, G10/48 and G11/48 oil and gas fields in the Gulf of Thailand.

It also has two oil development projects, two gas developments in Indonesia, and 10 exploration/appraisal blocks in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
