Kongsberg said the new simulators, comprising offshore anchor handling, dynamic positioning, power management and crane simulation systems, will be part of an advanced offshore simulation training centre, which will be the first of its kind in Nigeria and West Africa.
Located in Lagos, the new training centre will support the training of local and foreign workers involved in offshore oil and gas operations, as well as meet the growing demand for highly competent and qualified personnel for high risk offshore environment.
Under the contract, Kongsberg will deliver its advanced simulation training technology, which is similar to systems that are available on board many vessels globally.
Kongsberg’s delivery will include DP Class B and Class C simulation trainers, which will enable advanced dynamic positioning training for certification in accordance with Nautical Institute (NI), Det Norsk Veritas (DNV) and International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) standards.
