Kimber Resources has begun drilling at its Monterde project in the Sierra Madre gold-silver belt of northern Mexico.

The 30,000 metre drilling program will expand and upgrade mineral resources at the Carmen and Veta Minitas deposits, and test new exploration targets.

The program involves core and reverse circulation drilling, and a second reverse circulation drill rig will arrive the site shortly.

Kimber Resources President and CEO Gordon Cummings said this drilling program will enable the company to increase measured and indicated tonnes prior to the completion of a pre-feasibility study later in 2011.

In the first half of 2011 the drilling will intersect the main Carmen structure, the Cob structure, and the Veta Minitas deposit, and test three new structures to the north of Carmen and Veta Minitas.

Once the test results are received, the drill program and geological model will be examined for the possible expansion.
