The company, as per the agreement, will develop, install and operate the turbines that will generate electricity for the Honda Transmission Manufacturing’s Russell’s Point plant in Ohio.
Cost of the wind power generation projected has been pegged at $8m.
Juhl Wind project development vice president Corey Juhl noted that this partnership is an industry-leading initiative.
"The Honda Wind Project represents a growing niche within our renewable energy development services, which includes installing ‘behind the meter’ wind and solar facilities for large industrial electricity users and corporate clients," Juhl added.
"Our goal is to continue to grow this sector of our business by providing quality development services to companies that are looking to utilize renewable energy at their planned or existing facilities."
The 160ft-long turbines will be installed on 260ft-high towers on the Honda Transmission’s own property, meeting 10% of the plants energy requirement.
Honda Transmission vice president Gary Hand noted, "In our own ways, both Honda and Juhl are committed to reducing CO2 emissions."
