Terna said that, the result was affected by a working day less compared to November 2007 and by an average monthly temperature slightly higher by one degree-and-a-half compared to the same period of 2007. The overall demand in the first eleven months of 2008 appeared to be stable (-0.1%) compared to the same period in 2007, said the company.
In November 2008, 86.5% of the electricity requirement in Italy was covered for by national production and the remaining 13.5% by the balance between imports and exports. National net production of 23.9 billion kWh decreased by 9.4%, compared to the same month of 2007. Thermoelectric production and geothermal production also decreased (-16.8%) and (-6.5%), respectively; on the contrary, hydroelectric and wind production increased (+55.7%) and (+11%), respectively, according to Terna.
The grid operator reported that the thermoelectric and geothermal production decreased 16.8% and 6.5%, respectively in November 2008; while hydroelectric and wind production increased 55.7% and 11%, respectively in November 2008.
