Iran and China are expected to sign a deal soon that could see the two countries cooperate in the development of the Bakhtiari Dam in Iran, projected to be the world’s tallest concrete dam once complete.

According to newswire reports, Mr Mohammadreza Rezazadeh, Managing Director of the Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company, said a delegation from Iran recently travelled to China to hold negotiations on the funding and construction of the project.

An official contract between the two countries is expected to be signed by the end of the year.

The dam is to be built on the Bakhtiari River in the Zagros Mountains.
