INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) has started supplying natural gas to Nissan Chemical Industries through the Toyama Line extension in Japan.

Toyama Line extension network travels from Itoigawa City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan to Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, Japan.

The Toyama Line is a natural gas pipeline approximately 103km in length that was completed in June 2016 to supply customers based along the pipeline’s route with natural gas including regasified LNG from Naoetsu LNG Terminal in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

INPEX began constructing the Toyama Line in April 2012, thereafter engaging local communities throughout the process while ensuring operational safety at all times.

Following a full set of inspections, INPEX commenced partial operations of the Toyama Line to enable the efficient, long-term and stable supply of natural gas to Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd., with other customers expected to follow. Going forward, INPEX will continue to undertake the required preparations to fully operate the Toyama Line.

INPEX is committed to helping support economic development and reduce carbon footprint through promoting the widespread use of natural gas, the cleanest-burning fossil fuel.

The company will also continue to proactively strengthen its gas supply chain, one of the growth targets outlined in its Medium- to Long-Term Vision, making every effort to supply natural gas in a safe and stable manner to its customers.
