Wind farm

The Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n Wind Farm LP is a 50-50 partnership between Innergex and three Mi’gmaq communities in Quebec – the Gesgapegiag, Gespeg and Listuguj.

Construction and the operation of the wind farm will be managed by Innergex, while the project is expected to be operational in 2016.

Innergex president and CEO Michel Letellier said, "We are honoured and proud to have been chosen by the Mi’gmaq communities of Quebec to jointly develop this wind energy project, and the signing of a power purchase agreement marks an important milestone in the progression of its development."

Pre-construction activities for the $365m project is expected to begin in late 2014 and once all authorizations have been received construction works are set to commence in the next year.

The Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n wind farm is estimated to have a long-term average annual production of about 515,000MWh, enough to power more than 30,000 Quebec households each year.

Innergex said that during the first 15 years of operation, the Mi’gmaq communities will have the right to gradually increase their stake in the project up to 65%.
