The system pre-integrates a reference design based on the new Intel Atom processor E600 series, hardware and software components for feature plug and play, and an array of home energy management applications that run on the Linux-based operating system MeeGo.
The pre-configured system, which can be built into customized energy management devices, can be used by OEMs and service providers to introduce new products to consumers and generate revenues by offering value-added services.
The system has been designed to provide residential utility providers with a real time monitoring capability including monitoring energy consumption per appliance, forecasting cost per usage, providing subscription to a demand response program, and recommending savings potential.
In addition, the Digital Smart Home Gateway facilitates health monitoring and diagnosis, audio-video communication over Wi-Fi, entertainment subscriptions and security surveillance, enabling digital homes though device convergence.
