The Hindu Business Line cited Telangana energy principal secretary Aravind Kumar as saying: "The tenders are likely to be invited within 10-15 days. We have decided to offer these projects in a reverse bidding mode, with the last set of development of solar projects arrived at Rs6.45 a unit.

"Now the developers will be asked to come up with offers lower than this price."
The government is expected to complete the 1,000MW solar power projects within the next 18 months.

Kumar said: "The government had earlier finalised tenders to offer 505 MW of solar power projects for development.

"With the new tender, we will offer 1,500MW for development. These projects together are expected to be ready by March 2016."

Public sector companies including NTPC, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation have expressed interest to set up solar plants, if the land is offered by the State government.

The Telangana government is planning to install a total of 5,000MW solar energy projects over the next five years.
