The seven private sector companies that were granted projects comprise Jakson Power Solutions, Moser Bayer Clean Energy, Sree Developers, DK Infracon, Refax Energy, Azure Surya and Essel Infra, which will together develop solar projects of consolidated power capacity of about 130MW.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister AkhileshYadav has granted Letter of Intents to all the private companies, according to The Economic Times.
Jakson Power Solutions joint managing director Sundeep Gupta said the company would invest INR800m ($13.07m) over a period of one year to develop a 10MW project.
Having zeroed in on some land in the Bundelkhand region of the state, the company is intending to commission the project within six months, added Gupta.
"We are scouting for several opportunities and would also be exploring the option of setting up one more solar plant in Uttar Pradesh."
The state government has entered into an MoU with a public company, National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC), to construct a 100MW solar plant in Jalaun district of Bundelkhand region.
