Indian Minister of State for Coal Pratik Patil had disclosed details of the de-allocated blocks that includes the ones allocated to Bhushan Steel, Bihar Sponge Iron, Gujarat Ambuja Cement, Himachal EMTA Power, JSW Steels, Lafarge India, Maharashtra Seamless, Rungta Mines and SKS Ispat and Power
Several other blocks that were earlier allocated to ArecelorMittal, Bhushan Ltd, DB Power, GVK Power, Hindalco Industries, Jayaswal Neco, JSW Steels and Tata Power had bank gurantees against them either cancelled or deducted on similar grounds.
The inter ministerial group was constituted under the leadership of Additional Secretary of Coal with representatives from the Power Ministry, Steel Ministry, Law and Justice and Departments of Economic Affairs and Industrial Policy and Promotion, reported the Economic Times.
Established in June 2012 the group assessed 31 coal blocks allotted to 51 different companies and found that 58 mines were to be violating production agreements and forwarded the list to the government for initating action.
