This is primarily because of shortage of fuel like uranium, Kakodkar said.
Kakodkar said, Recently, we got 300 tonnes of uranium from France. We also entered into an agreement with Russia in February 2009 and are expecting 2,000 tonnes of nuclear fuel from this arrangement.
By early 2011, India’s total installed capacity for nuclear power would be increased up to 6,700 MW, with the addition of 2,600 MW to the existing installed capacity of 4,100 MW.
This will happen in a phased manner, Kakodkar said.
