The Hindu cited Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) officials as saying that the Centre and the State governments are set to clear all hurdles of the project.
Due to elections and change in the government, the land acquisition process for the plant has been delayed.
The 10,000MW Kovvada project is expected to cost approximately INR1tn ($16.6bn).
Andhra Pradesh government is likely to mount pressure on the Center government for early completion of the project, amid ambitious plans for the development of the state.
NPCIL project top executive said, "Modi Government is very keen on development and power is essential for implementing its plans. That is why we are hopeful that NPCIL project will take off very soon."
