UK-based marine services provider Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has won a sub-contract from Jan De Nul Group to provide support logistics for the Wheatstone liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, offshore Australia.

Under the contract, ISS Australia will import 15 vessels into North West Australia for Jan De Nul to execute a pipeline stabilization work for the LNG project.

The under-construction AUD29bn ($27.9bn) Wheatstone facility at Ashburton North, 12km west of Onslow, Western Australia is being developed and operated by Chevron Australia.

Chevron’s liquefaction and export facility is expected to have an annual capacity of 15 million tons of LNG and will be supplied from the Wheatstone, Iago, Julimar and Brunello offshore gas fields.

ISS Australia general manager Danny Rees said the company will support Jan De Nul on the important project and extend its capability in the offshore sector.

As part of the project, eight vessels have already been imported into the country, while the remaining seven vessels are due to arrive by October 2013.
