The facility with 66 General Electric 1.5 MW wind turbines, is expected to strengthen Iberdrola’s position in the US market. The company already has 2,318 MW of capacity installed in the US, with an additional 781 MW under construction. It has a US pipeline amounting to 22,286, representing 41% of the company’s total 54,600 MW.
Iberdrola has installed capacity worldwide of 8,487. Of this, 8,146 MW is produced by wind farms and 342 MW by mini-hydro power stations.
Iberdrola’s installed wind power capacity in Spain stands at 4,450 MW (4,792 MW including mini-hydro power stations) and a further 3,696 MW of wind capacity abroad –2,318 MW in the US, 617 MW in the UK and 761 MW internationally.
Recently, the company, through its ScottishPower Renewables subsidiary, has partnered with Swedish company Vattenfall to jointly participate in the third round of development of offshore wind farms in the UK. The two companies will form a consortium to tender bids in this process.
