The project, which will produce around 61 megawatts (MW), is developed by Aeolus Kenya, and will be owned by Macquarie and Old Mutual sponsored African Infrastructure Investment fund II and Norwegian Investment fund for developing countries NORFUND.
The project includes 38 wind turbines, while Iberdrola subsidiary will handle engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning, and each 1.6 MW wind turbine will stand at 80m and a rotor diameter spanning 82.5m.
Iberdrola, along with Gamesa, is constructing the 13.6 MW Ngong II wind farm in Ngong Hills near Nairobi, while it is being developed for the Kenya Electricity Generating (Kengen).
In addition, the company also secured a contract of Nairobi Ring project for the utility Kenya Electricity Transmission (Ketraco).
