Under the contract, HHI will develop the 21,000 ton topside facility, which will have the capacity to produce 23 million cbm of oil and gas per day.
Once completed in 2016, the facility will be installed in the Aasta Hansteen field, which is located 300km off the coast of Norway.
As a floating installation, the spar will include a vertical column tied up to the seabed, plus conventional topsides with processing facilities.
Statoil will use pure steel risers to supply gas from the seabed to the platform and further to Polarled.
The platform’s hull will feature storage for condensate, which will be loaded to transport tankers at the field.
Once it begins operations, the cylindrical platform, measuring 195m in total hull height, will be able to store 160,000 barrels of condensate.
HHI will construct the offshore facility with support from CB&I in The Hague, Netherlands and European suppliers under the NORSOK standard.
