The five- seater CODA Sedan is powered by CODA’s 33.8kWh battery system giving the car a range of 90 to 120 miles per charge and also features a 6.6kW on-board charger that can provide a full charge in about six hours.
Each CODA sedan is claimed to deliver an average CO2 savings of 21.8 tons for every 100,000 miles or more as compared to a 25 MPG internal combustion engine vehicle and costs about $3.50 to charge from depletion, enough for up to a 120 mile drive based on $.11 per kWh of electricity.
Hertz that operates a fleet of general use airport rental cars with access to many different groups of consumers at over 8,300 locations, has added the CODA EVs to its fleet as part of its commitment to develop a sustainable eco-system for alternative forms of transportation.
Hertz intends to use its rental and car sharing locations as bases for electric vehicles and charging stations in the US and abroad with plans to roll out its EV rental program with full-scale deployment in the US and abroad beginning in 2011.
The Hertz chairman and CEO Mark Frissora said that Hertz is committed to the widespread use of electric vehicles globally and is laying the foundation to make electric vehicle mobility a reality today.
