According to Amjad Rawashdeh, managing director of Samra Electric Power Generating Company, the two companies will ink a contract within the coming month.
Mr Rawashdeh told the Jordan Times: “The project entails setting up two gas turbine stations with a total generating capacity of 285.740MW, which will cover expected future loads, meet increasing demand and support the Kingdom’s electrical network.”
On completion of the project, the total capacity of the plant is expected to be approximately 900MW. The project will cost around JD138m. Mr Rawashdeh added that the two turbines will start operations in approximately 16 months.
As reported, the project is also expected to be converted to the combined cycle and will provide an additional 130MW.
