PG&E will buy all the RECs generated by Greengate’s 300MW Blackspring Ridge I and the 150MW Halkirk I wind projects in Alberta under 20-year, fixed-price power purchase agreements (PPAs).
The wind projects are expected to generate approximately 1,400GWh of renewable energy per year.
PG&E will use the PPAs for compliance under the California renewable portfolio standard.
The Halkirk I and the Blackspring Ridge I wind projects are expected to be completed in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
