GE Hitachi has won a contract to provide outage services for Exelon's entire fleet of boiling water reactors. It has also received nuclear fuel contract extensions for six Exelon reactors.
GE Hitachi has won a contract to provide outage services for Exelon’s entire fleet of boiling water reactors. It has also received nuclear fuel contract extensions for six Exelon reactors. Together, the contracts are worth nearly $300 million.
Under the outage services agreement, GEH will provide a ‘full portfolio’ of outage and inspection services to Exelon’s 14 BWR plants throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Northeast United States.
The agreement will run until the completion of the spring 2018 outage season.
Its scope includes assisting with refuel floor activities and performing under-vessel and inspection services, GEH said.
The fuel contract extends Global Nuclear Fuel’s (a GE-led joint venture) current work at six Exelon reactors through 2018 and is in addition to the four other Exelon BWRs the company also fuels, says GEH.
