The agreement enables GE Hitachi to increase the local content of the nuclear reactors offered to its customer, state-owned utility Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NCPIL), which now operates a GE reactor built in Tarapur, India, during the 1960’s, according to StarNews Online.

In addition to Tata Consulting, CE, GE Hitachi also has signed preliminary project development agreements with NPCIL, Bharat Heavy Electricals and engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro.

Mumbai-based Tata Consulting is a subsidiary of the Indian industrial conglomerate the Tata Group.
