Bulgaria is planning to set up a new law on renewable energy which aims at providing incentives for biomass energy production.
The Balkan country envisions 433MW of biomass plants by 2020, with 16% of the total energy consumption coming from renewable energy sources.
Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Miroslav Naidenov said Bulgarian forests have been increasing by an annual 4,000ha in the past several years, but the available biomass is not being used and is left to decay.
The company also said it will build a biomass plant in Poland.
It owns a 695MW in biomass-fuelled power plant capacity in US and Brazil.
