GCL-Poly Energy Holdings, a polysilicon producer and wafer supplier, has secured a long-term supplementary wafer and polysilicon product supply contract from Solarfun Power Holdings, a manufacturer of silicon ingots, wafers PV cells and modules in China.

Under the contract, GCL (Suzhou) Solar Energy Technology, a subsidiary of GCL-Poly will provide Solarfun with a total of 2,500MW wafer and polysilicon products, starting from January 2011 through December 2015.

The contract is expected to support Solarfun’s development in the solar PV industry, while consolidating GCL-Poly’s foothold in the global solar market.

Solarfun president and CEO, Peter Xie said that by signing this long-term supplementary wafer and polysilicon contract with GCL-Poly, Solarfun is further strengthening the long-term strategic collaboration between both parties.

"We expect this to satisfy our requirements for key raw materials on a cost-effective basis, and allow us to continue expanding in scale as we meet our growing customer needs worldwide," Xie said.
