The contract requires Gamesa to supply a total of 60 wind turbine generators from its G8X-2.0MW platform with deliveries starting in April 2011 and also provide operation and maintenance services for the next ten years.
The two models from the G8X-2.0MW platform to be supplied under this contract will be specifically designed for high temperature for installation on 67m towers and will be manufactured at Gamesa’s factory in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania.
The energy generated from the Windstar wind project, the construction of which will be supervised by Gamesa, will be sold to Southern California Edison under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
The construction of the wind project is partially financed with funds from the Section 1603 Program, created under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 that provides optional cash payment for developers in lieu of a 30% investment tax credit and production tax credit (PTC).
