Fuji Electric America, a subsidiary of Japan-based Fuji Electric, has commenced the production of UL-Certified DC Quick Chargers for Electric Vehicles in US.

The advanced 25KW DC Quick Charger, which is slimmer than the earlier versions, will be developed as per the CHAdeMO specification and enables the owners to charge their electric vehicles (EVs) in less than a hour.

Commenting on the initiative, Fuji Electric America president and CEO Phil Charatz said that deploying the company’s core technology in the design of the EV charging stations will enable the company to leverage its power electronics expertise to assure that the product will meet the company’s quality standards.

Fuji Electric EV Systems general manager Larry Butkovich said, "Since entering the US EV market in March 2012, we have been working diligently to begin local production of our DC Quick Chargers in order to better serve our customers."

The first production units are scheduled to be delivered by the end of March 2013.
