The Fossil Fuels Forum has met for the second time to discuss security of supply of fossil fuels and other related issues identified in the European Commission's recent green paper on developing a strategy for sustainable and secure energy.

The forum is an initiative of the European Commission to improve communication and exchange of information on fossil fuels with member states, stakeholders and energy experts.

The forum meeting was based on the outcome of the discussions of its working parties, and its conclusions will serve as input for future initiatives of the European Commission, such as the strategic energy review and the communication on sustainable coal.

Working parties of the forum established after the first meeting in October 2005 have already met several times in order to discuss topics of key importance in relation to the main fossil fuels: oil, gas and coal. These focused mainly on issues highlighted in the green paper.
