Cane Island Power Park is jointly owned by FMPA and Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA), but the new natural gas-fueled generator is fully owned and operated by FMPA and operated under contract by KUA.

The 1,000-acre Cane Island Power Park is situated near Intercession City in northwest Osceola County, Florida. The site comprises three existing units with a combined capacity of 410 megawatts.

FMPA is a wholesale power agency owned by municipal electric utilities. FMP serves around 15 cities, including Bushnell, Clewiston, Fort Meade, Fort Pierce, Green Cove Springs, Havana, Jacksonville Beach, Key West, Kissimmee, Lake Worth, Leesburg, Newberry, Ocala, Starke and Vero Beach.
