Exelon has produced 34,882GWh of power from its nuclear plants including Salem Generating Station, in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2012.

During the comparable period a year ago, the company had produced 34,893GWh of electricity from its nuclear power generating stations.

The Exelon-operated nuclear facilities had achieved a 93% capacity factor in the fourth quarter of both 2012 and 2011, which excludes Salem and the units owned by CENG.

During the quarter, the number of planned refueling outage days totaled 113, up from 103 days in the fourth quarter of 2011.

At the Exelon-operated nuclear plants, the number of non-refueling outage days totaled one day in Q4 2012, compared with 11 days in Q4 2011.

Exelon president and CEO Christopher M Crane said, "Exelon had another strong year of operational performance and closed on a very successful, transformational merger that gives us a presence across the value chain."

The company, with 2012 revenues of about $23.5bn, has operations and business activities in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Canada.

Exelon has nearly 35,000MW of owned capacity, and its utilities supply electricity and natural gas to over 6.6 million customers in Maryland (BGE), Illinois (ComEd) and Pennsylvania (PECO).
