Taiwan’s Ever Fortune IPP Co. has selected ABB to construct a 960 MW power plant. The contract is worth $660 million, Dow Jones reports.

ABB will supply four GT24 gas turbines, associated heat recovery steam generators, two steam turbines, generators, the control system and balance of plant equipment. The company will also build a 13 km natural gas pipeline to feed the plant and a 20 km transmission line to connect the power station to the Taiwan national grid.

The European group will be responsible for engineering, installation and commissioning and will operate and maintain the power station for eight years. Financial closure was achieved last month. It is being underwritten by a group of Taiwanese banks. The plant is expected to commence commercial operation in July 1999.
