Located in the Eurus Kitaawaji Solar Park, the new facility will have capacity to produce around 10.5MW electricity.
The facility, which is being constructed on around 23ha of land, will feature around 51,000 Kyocera’s photovoltaic modules.
According to the company, the facility is the group’s second solar power plant in Awaji Island.
The new solar power facility is scheduled to start operations in July 2017.
It is expected to supply electricity to around 4,000 general households, equivalent to around 20% of total households in Awaji City.
The company also noted that Hyogo Prefecture, Awaji City, Sumoto City and Minami-Awaji City are designated by the central government as a special industrial belt for regional invigoration of economic activities in line with the Awaji Environmental Futuristic Island Concept for Sustainability.
In 2013, Eurus Energy started construction of a 115MW solar photovoltaic power plant in Rokkasho Village, Aomori Prefecture.
The plant holds capacity to generate electricity to power around 38,000 general households in the region.
